From a hospital bed to a national mission
What began as a student-led effort to collect pajamas has grown into a community mission supported by schools, honor societies, families, businesses, and young volunteers.
When Ethan Manley was in seventh grade, a severe case of osteomyelitis changed his life. He underwent emergency surgery followed by nine months of intensive antibiotic treatment and six months of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
That long and difficult recovery showed him how challenging hospitalization can be for teenagers — and how easily teens can be missed when programs are designed for small children. It also showed him the power of comfort, encouragement, and knowing that someone is thinking of you.
Ethan founded EndZone Comfort to help change that. What began as a student-led effort to collect pajamas has grown into a community mission supported by schools, honor societies, families, businesses, and young volunteers. Today, EndZone Comfort provides pajama bottoms and selected donated items to Wolfson Children's Hospital, along with service projects like Essential Comfort Kits, Encouragement Cards, and Nursing Appreciation Snack Kits.
The long-term goal is bold: empower students in every state to lead drives that bring comfort to teenagers while building a generation of service-minded leaders.
